NewsThe Streets cover Hot ChipThe Streets covered Hot Chip's 'Over and Over' during their gig at Edinburgh's Liquid Rooms last night (July 27). Mike Skinner freestyled a line from the song during a medley of 'Has It Come To This?', 'Weak Become Heroes' and 'Blinded By The Lights'. Playing an all hits set, Skinner told NME.COM why he wouldn't be playing any new songs during the Scottish dates. "Originally I was going to try out new songs but my album's only going to come out next year now. But the tour's wicked." Their headlining set was the fourth date his mini Scottish tour featuring acts from Skinner's The Beats label- Professor Green, Neon, Example and The Mitchell Brothers. Earlier, Skinner joined The Mitchell Brothers on stage wearing a Michael Jackson mask for a version of new track 'Michael Jackson', spoofing his moves along the way. During the encore- a rendition of The Streets remix of The Twang's 'Either Way'- the other acts joined him onstage for a mass singalong. The tour which also called at Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee and is set to close at Glasgow's ABC tonight (July 28). Wu-Tang Clan get clearance to use first-ever Beatles sample Wu Tang Clan have announced that they've been given permission to use a sample of a song by The Beatles for the first time ever. The rap supergroup originally said that they were covering The Beatles' 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' with George Harrison's son Dhani Harrison, as previously reported. Now the band have revealed that they've been given permission to use a sample of the song in their cover version. In a message posted today (October 2) on their website, the band wrote, "Special thanks to Danny [sic] Harrison & Erykah Badu for helping bring this song to life!! Also thanks to The Harrison Estate & The Beatles for helping make this possible!!" The band also said that they're pushing back the release date of their new album, '8 Diagrams', from November 13 to December 4 "due to the magnitude of the sample and the History being made." Meanwhile, the band have announced several dates and cities of an autumn tour. The exact venues are expected to be announced shortly. |
